Koppert Kenya has a solid reputation for reliability, innovation and quality among farmers and growers of the following sectors:

Kenya is one of the largest suppliers of cut flowers to the European Union (EU). However, pests can reduce growers’ profits quickly and considerably. Koppert Kenya applies extensive research and expertise to provide flower growers in Kenya with the best, customized crop protection programs that fit their needs. Our team of highly skilled and experienced consultants works alongside growers everyday to provide expert advice and offer solutions in biocontrol and IPM. Our holistic range of biological products can help you control pests such as the Red spider mite (RSM), Whiteflies, Mealybugs, Thrips, Caterpillars, Nematodes; and diseases like Botrytis, Powdery mildew, Downy mildew and even Soil-borne pathogens.

Export Vegetables

Kenya’s main export vegetables include French beans, runner beans, broccoli, peppers, baby spinach, sweet corn and herbs. These key crops are affected by pests and diseases such as Whiteflies, Thrips, Caterpillars such as Diamondback moth (DBM), Helicoverpa & False Codling moth. The common diseases include Powdery mildew, Fusarium wilt, Rust, Downy mildew and Blights which can cause huge losses and make the produce unmarketable.

In international markets, strict compliance to quality standards serves as a competitive advantage. Consumers in these markets are increasingly applying pressure on growers to reduce the chemical residues on export produce. Koppert Kenya partners with export vegetable growers for residue free produce. We provide unique, sustainable crop protection products and holistic programs which allow growers to maximize their yields and realize greater profits.

Koppert has now developed seed dressing products for large, arable crops cultivated in rows, such as Wheat, Barley, Maize, Soya, Rice and Grains. The products contain micro-organisms and other stimulating ingredients that are beneficial for the crop. The goal is to enhance/improve the seed for better resistance against pathogens found in the soil and on the seed. The seed dressings lead to a stronger, healthier and much more productive crop, more resistant to drought and disease.

While the use of chemical substances to treat seeds occurs on a large scale worldwide, treating seeds with biological substances is an application that is still in its infancy. Panoramix is a new powerful seed treatment biostimulant that has been specially formulated for use in cereals. Seed treatment gives cereal growers in Kenya better security, in terms of higher yields and disease-resistant plants that are better equipped to handle stressful conditions. This includes the regular incidents of inadequate rainfall. In recent years, large-scale crops around the world have been treated with beneficial microbes, resulting in 20 - 50% reduction in the use of artificial fertilizers. Moreover, growth and production have been observed to increase by up 25%.

Smallholder Farms

More than 30 million Kenyans practice smallholder farming. Kenya’s economic growth and food security largely depends on enhancing the productivity of these farms. Soil borne diseases like Fusarium wilt and Pythium threaten crop yield potentials and return on investment. Biological control with Trianum, a beneficial fungus, is recommended to control soil pathogens and boost growth of Tomatoes, Onions, Cabbages, Watermelons, Potatoes, Passion fruits, Carrots, Snow peas and other fruits and vegetables.

Trianum is available to smallholder farmers at select Agrovets in Kenya. Through an integrated system of specialist knowledge sharing, training and distribution, Koppert helps Kenyan smallholder farmers to produce more yields of better quality and in turn, improve their livelihoods.
