Maize

About

Maize or corn (Zea mays), is a large grain plant that is divided in different types including: pod corn, sweet corn, flour corn and baby corn.

Maize is adaptable to a whole range of climate conditions and is the single most extensively grown crop in Kenya. It is also the country's main staple food and is cultivated by both small and largeholders.

Every part of the maize plant has economic value: the grain, leaves, stalk, tassel, and cob can all be used to produce a large variety of food and non-food products.
